The Indomitable Dog Of Good Health…

So this, from a dream where I was looking for some kind of medicine that I could take back to the regular world for loved ones. Which is everyone… The point of it is to recognise that the way an excited dog loves you, is the genuine underlying reality of who you are. It doesn’t matter how you’re feeling emotionally, the dog knows who you are much better than you do. Embody Self-Love, it’s really important.

Now dreams aside, this is a serious Restorative Composition (RC) where I have genuinely put notes in for a specific purpose, OK? Like hypnosis. So before you listen, familiarise yourself with the story and then for it to work, I’d like you to have your brain make a really conscious effort to take in each of the highest notes that sound – with as much intensity and focus as it gave to the previous one. Ignore the rest of the sound beneath these – it’ll just register anyway.

The high notes are very quick in succession so giving your full attention to each requires tremendous concentration – and you’ll know you have it right, when you feel your mind and even body is actually moving along the axis of time in an attempt to keep up with them. Keep this feeling going as much as you can… It’s an assisted form of meditation, and this kind of practice oils the hinges on the door to the present moment.

Ideally you would listen with headphones, lying in bed, before going to sleep. (The high notes become easiest to follow from 0.32 and moreso from 0.44 so one of these can be your entry point, if you can’t get in before… Keep listening to them with that intense focus for the full duration of the fade out – and beyond, let them sound in your head after they’ve faded out… so they can integrate with your subconscious.)

0:00 That excitable dog you know is just SO fucking Happy to see you, it’s crazy!! It’s bounding around and yapping and jumping up on your leg, desperate for your attention – it just completely and utterly loves you so much!!

0:32 That night it sleeps on your bed with you, SO contentedly – and you realise it’s merged into reality, so that this dog who adores you so insanely has become the ground beneath your body and the ether and the world around you… Believe it or not, this is the reality of the situation…

0:44 …And in the darkness, what the world around you is – is that outdoor place you used to really enjoy being in when you were young… and you like to go back to… It’s totally safe to be drifting off to sleep here, and looking up from where you lie, to the sky – the stars are now clearly visible with psychedelic brilliance; there are more stars than sky!

As you allow yourself to be carried into the arms of a restorative, positive and peaceful sleep, your eyes from behind heavy eyelids pick up beautiful reeds, made of light, totally surrounding you… One by one, they move into your field of vision, reaching up from the ground that supports you completely, to The Stars…

(That’s the story, just so you know – but you don’t need to think about it as you listen, just focus with as much intensity as you can on each of the highest individual notes that sound all through the music…)

UPDATE…

My artist neighbour has just given me this… So if you couldn’t think of what the IDOGH looked like – this can be it! You can see it’s listening to the tune and agreeing that that’s an accurate portrayal…* Weird eh?

*Yes, I understand coincidence, no I’m not genuinely insane. But I do think art could be taken even more seriously than it is – music and art and stories are dealing with the Jungian layer of the mind – and engaging with that as though it’s real – can help assuage and process emotions, especially when there’s no other outlet for them… Myth as a key for reality is possibly just the old version of Math(s)… which is just using a logical instead of emotional lens… Both are completely human-centric though, and both insufficient to see what’s there, beyond us… but could myth have had clues about a conscious side to The Universe that maths has blanked out?

And the high notes thing – I do wonder if the effect that repetitive rhythms and beats have on people’s brain patterns is to do with the fact the drum or the note, being played over and over again is forcing the listener to mentally update their photo of the present moment, where without the stimulus, they’d be lost in thoughts of other things, and so using a marginally older snapshot… Therefore I imagine that Shamanic drumming and so on, basically drags your consciousness out of other worlds and focuses more of it into The Now, upping your acuity of what is, and increasing your ability to apprehend your immediate situation or state of mind… But as with the mantra, to really enhance this, it’s good to consciously aim your attention as hard as you can on the very edge of the music as you hear it, the latest note, or word that’s passing through you…
