Story 5…

I finished this… It’s programmatic; telling a specific story… It had been about Zuckerberg, but it’s changed a bit… It’s a duet for 2 pianos; 3 max. (For 2 accomplished pianists or 3 not so experienced… For two hubristic young men with an appetite for showing off or 3 older people with more responsibilities and self-esteem). If you write it into three parts, they’re fairly easy – the challenge is playing together…

0:00 My grandparents’ house…

0:22 The Rezerection are playing in a field nearby in Leuchars…

0:40 Walking down a corridor in Bush House – I am the most persistent part of this enveloping hallucination…

1:12 Our ability to survive the modern world comes from our history on the Savanna – we are a remarkable species, you know? The spears have evolved into paper-spikes…

1:28 Still, this corridor isn’t going to walk down itself, is it? If I didn’t do it, The Universe wouldn’t contain everything that has, is and every will be – so I’m just taking care of business.

1:43 On the steps of Bush House at 5:30 in the morning after a nightshift, observing the newness of the day, the psychic clarity of the air with the people still offline… The jubilation of being free from all responsibility for a few days..

2:00 My grandparents are there as well though peering faintly from another decade – they used to come here… The building stays the same, it’s the people and their fashions that change…

2:08 The beautiful rain on the pavement…

2:14 On the deserted top deck of the bus, flying through the still-dark streets of London, like Batman.

2:32 Never mind all that though – years have passed and this evening, I’ve adopted the personas of Parvati, Lakshmi and Saraswati, with many iterations trailing behind me as I go… Because we get to be whatever we want – and the creation of art is an otherworldly act…

2:48 A strong-featured man walking through Paddington Station, with Bond like neutrality. I watch him at mouse level, wishing to ride in his pocket.

3:10 Whelp, best get on with doing more… living… I mean… it’s an open ended story – I should really make it fade out – that’s just very hard for pianists to pull off… So off we go sharing the space-time continuum, you – the listener and me…
